Bosc Pear Baskets with Blue Cheese

Hello, I am Tanya. I am a new guest at FlavorShades but very excited to share my recipes with your readers. This dish is a replica for a dessert that I once tried at a french restaurant years ago (their desert was different, but ingredients were similar). Back then I did not understand this kind combination of the flavors and thought that it was the worst desert I have ever tried. Blue cheese and fruit…who would think that I even would begin to like blue cheese…but years past, I changed and so did my taste buds I guess:)

Pear, blue cheese, walnuts and honey…Now when I hear this combination after trying to cook and eat this dish changed my outlook on this dish completely. These flavors when put together bring an array of different flavors for my taste buds, and now I simply love it. I hope you will too!

¼ Cup of Dried Cranberries
¼ Cup of Walnuts
¼ Cup of Brown Sugar
2  Tablespoons of  Honey
5-8 Sage Leaves

How to make Bosc Pears Baskets with Blue Cheese, Sage, Honey, Walnuts and Dried Cranberries:

Blue-Cheese-Pear-1

1.  Wash your Bosc pears and peel both pears, so they will end up with vertical stripes all around the fruit.

2.  Sprinkle brown sugar over the pears so it covers it completely.

3.  Set your pear up in a basket made out of Aluminum Foil (so it wouldn’t burn and stands up nicely), then add few sage leaves and bake it at 400F for 30 minutes.

4.  Once pears are ready, take them out of the oven and let them cool down for 15 minutes.

5.  Now you are ready to carve your pear basket.  To do so, cut the pear into half and with a carving knife cut the inside to create the basket.

6.  Get rid of pits and cut the rest of the cooked inside of the pear into cubes.

7.  Take out and cut up your blue cheese and combine it with cranberries, and walnuts and put it inside your  pear basket.   Finally drizzle honey over the pear and garnish with walnuts blue cheese and sage leaves.

Enjoy!:)
